Grand gestures are wonderful. I mean, really, what person doesn’t love it when their spouse goes above and beyond for them? What person doesn’t appreciate the big grand gesture in their honor?
But, those grand gestures are usually few and far between (like maybe once a year for an anniversary) and can only take a relationship so far.
The truth is, it’s the smaller, daily, intentional gestures of love that will firmly strengthen a marriage and unite a couple.
Here are 30 simple ways to show your spouse love today (and everyday, for that matter).
- Send a thoughtful text
- Pick up take-out from their favorite restaurant (Pei Wei please!)
- Make their favorite dessert
- Rub their shoulders
- Draw them a hot bubble bath
- Bring home flowers or candy (cliche but it works)
- Give an unexpected kiss
- Schedule a date night
- Take their car thru the car wash
- Fill their car with gas
- Do one of their chores for them
- Give them some free time
- Pick up one of their favorite movies at Redbox
- Rub their feet (yes please!)
- Give a genuine compliment
- Pack a lunch for them
- Post a love note on the bathroom mirror
- Wash their hair (If you haven’t tried this, do it!)
- Flirt!
- Grab their tush!
- Bring them home a coffee (or Diet Pepsi in my case)
- Get a sitter
- Book a getaway weekend
- Tell them “Thank You”
- Meet them for lunch
- Let them know how sexy they are
- Make them a romantic ITunes playlist
- Hold their hand
- Play “your song” and ask them to dance
- Play hooky! (my favorite!)
Whatever you do, don’t let today (or any day) slip by without showing your spouse some love!

Love your list, especially playing hookie. 😀 How much fun that is. I really love getting the random texts, too.
Playing hookie is really the best isn’t it?
oh my gosh, give them free time and bring home flower or coffee, BEST ADVICE EVER!!!
I’m glad you liked it. One of my favorite things that husband does for me is give me some time for myself. It makes all the difference in my happiness.
yes, I think I would like us to both play hookie. We do a lot of these and they are great 🙂
Playing hookie is my favorite!
Love this post! Sometimes a small gesture goes a really long way <3
So true. Sometimes it is the little things that make a big difference.
Sometimes I leave notes on the bathroom mirror. There are time we write them with markers since we don’t have children at home. But one of my favorites is to take a nice steamy shower and get the mirror fogged up. You then write or draw something on the mirror. When the mirror clears, the message is gone. They come in and take a hot shower and it reappears like a magic message. Just clean the glass and it’s gone for good.
What a fun idea. I have tried that one, but it doesn’t work so good in my shower. Awesome that you leave notes. I’m sure your spouse loves getting a surprise message.
